Lighting calibrations

On-site calibration, with a personalized and flexible service.

Calibration consists of establishing, under specific conditions, the relationship between the values measured by a piece of equipment and the reference values traceable to recognized standards.

This relationship allows the client to evaluate the instrument's performance and ensure the validity of its measurements. In the field of lighting, calibration focuses on light booths or color visual comparison chambers, guaranteeing that they simulate the standardized conditions (type of lighting, level, background characteristics, and uniformity) necessary for accurate visual evaluation.

Calibration of Lighting Booths (Visual Comparison Chambers) The calibration of light booths consists of evaluating simulated light sources (such as Daylight D65, D50 or type A sources) with respect to the optical parameters defined in international standards (ISO 3664, ASTM D1729etc.). The results of this process are used by companies to determine if the type of lighting, the level of illumination (lux) and the uniformity within the booth remain constant and reproducible, which is vital for the evaluation of products in sectors such as textiles, cosmetics, paints or automotive.

What equipment do we calibrate?

Light Booths (Visual Color Comparison Cameras) These devices, ranging from compact models to large production line lighting systems, are simulation instruments that create a controlled and reproducible lighting environment, often with a neutral background, for visual evaluation and comparison of samples.

Calibration Description Eyco performs calibration of light sources:

  • Calibration in Correlated Color Temperature (TCC).
  • Calibration in Yxy chromatic coordinates.
  • Calibration in Color Rendering Index (R)a)
  • Calibration in Illuminance Ev (lx)

Determination of the uniformity of the TCC.

Why Is This Important?

Periodic calibration of lighting booths is crucial to ensure that lighting conditions remain stable and compliant with international standards (ISO, ASTM).

  • Ensuring product acceptance: Light booths serve as a visual verification tool for accepting or rejecting products based on color. Precise calibration ensures that the quality decision is objective, reproducible, and valid.
  • Controlling metamerism: Verifying different light sources allows for the detection and management of metamerism, preventing a color from being accepted in the laboratory and subsequently rejected by the customer under different natural or artificial light conditions.
  • Ensure traceability and compliance: The calibration verifies that the booth meets the requirements of the Standards, giving legal and metrological validity to the quality controls based on the visual comparison of colors.
  • Minimize errors: Factors such as lamp aging or variations in the power supply alter the color and intensity of the light. Calibration detects and corrects these deviations, minimizing costly errors in production.

The result

Once your equipment has been calibrated by Eyco's expert staff, you will receive a Calibration Certificate backed by accreditation. ENAC. Said Certificate includes the complete identification of your equipment, the procedure that the laboratory has followed to carry out the calibration and the result of the same.

For light booths, the result of the calibration is a value of the CCT and the chromaticity coordinates together with their uncertainty, for each of the light sources.

From the correction values, their uncertainty and the calibration history, you can establish the acceptance and rejection values of the equipment.

In addition, together with your equipment, you will receive a calibration label with the certificate number, the identification of the equipment and the date of calibration.
