Sunglasses tests

The conditions for the marketing and free intra-community circulation of personal protective equipment (PPE) are regulated by the Directive 89/686 / EECThis regulation establishes the essential health and safety requirements that these types of products must meet. These requirements aim to protect the health and ensure the safety of users.

Sunglasses, or goggles for protection against solar radiation, are classified as category I PPE. This classification means that this class of products does not have to undergo EC Type Examination and, therefore, they are not associated with the corresponding certificate.

These types of glasses must comply with the characteristics regulated by ISO 12312-1. The Standard establishes the guidelines to be followed to carry out a test that evaluates the different optical and mechanical properties of this type of product.

Eyco has the resources to test sunglasses and determine their filter category. Furthermore, our laboratory has the expertise to evaluate sunglasses according to international standards. ISO 12311 e ISO 12312, different optical properties in this type of product, such as UV protection, degree of polarization, light diffusion, among others.

The result

Each test performed by Eyco is documented in a technical report that includes:

  • The identification and description of the sample
  • The standardized methods applied
  • Test conditions
  • The equipment used
  • The results obtained
  • Measurement uncertainty

The data is presented in a clear and traceable manner, meeting the necessary quality requirements.
